Short presentations for three-dimensional unitary groups
We give a presentation of length O ( log2 |G| ) for the groups G∼= PSU3(q). This result has applications in recent algorithms to compute the structure of permutation groups and matrix groups.
متن کاملBehavior of $R$-groups for $p$-adic inner forms of quasi-split special unitary groups
We study $R$-groups for $p$-adic inner forms of quasi-split special unitary groups. We prove Arthur's conjecture, the isomorphism between the Knapp-Stein $R$-group and the Langlands-Arthur $R$-group, for quasi-split special unitary groups and their inner forms. Furthermore, we investigate the invariance of the Knapp-Stein $R$-group within $L$-packets and between inner forms. This w...
متن کاملOn local gamma factors for orthogonal groups and unitary groups
In this paper, we find a relation between the proportionality factors which arise from the functional equations of two families of local Rankin-Selberg convolutions for irreducible admissible representations of orthogonal groups, or unitary groups. One family is that of local integrals of the doubling method, and the other family is that of local integrals expressed in terms of sph...
متن کاملFlag-transitive Point-primitive symmetric designs and three dimensional projective special linear groups
The main aim of this article is to study (v,k,λ)-symmetric designs admitting a flag-transitive and point-primitive automorphism group G whose socle is PSL(3,q). We indeed show that the only possible design satisfying these conditions is a Desarguesian projective plane PG(2,q) and G > PSL(3,q).
متن کاملOn finitely generated profinite groups, II: products in quasisimple groups
We prove two results. (1) There is an absolute constant D such that for any finite quasisimple group S, given 2D arbitrary automorphisms of S, every element of S is equal to a product of D ‘twisted commutators’ defined by the given automorphisms. (2) Given a natural number q, there exist C = C(q) and M = M(q) such that: if S is a finite quasisimple group with |S/Z(S)| > C, βj (j = 1, . . . ,M) ...
